From Fear and Ignorance to
Love and Wisdom

The main cause of poverty or financial struggle is fear and ignorance ...

Mr. Kiyosaki suggests repeatedly in his book that everyone can become wealthy if only they will study and gain financial intelligence. At times, he seems to be more optimistic than realistic. It is really unreasonable to believe that all can be rich in the usual sense of the word.

While most humans have potentials beyond their imaginings, we are not all made the same. Interests and aptitudes, abilities and talents vary widely even within the same family. Then, many adults are really children in adult bodies who in this lifetime will not be able to do more than take care of themselves – if that.

Still, there are millions of people who can study to become financially knowledgeable and eventually wealthy. But as Mr. Kiyosaki remarks there are impediments on the pathway which may be recognized by those who dare to imagine taking charge of their own being.

Kiyosaki identifies ignorance and fear to be the major obstacles to financial well-being. And, those two forces are likewise obstacles to true health.

Ignorance, as noted in an earlier chapter, is the bottom line problem for all human beings. There is so much to learn. And, as Kiyosaki often repeats, our educational system is antiquated and inadequate. Not just regarding finances but also health and numerous other important subjects.

That said, this writer has noted repeatedly that the last Health class he took was somewhere along the way in public school. There was nothing remotely approximating a course in Health in college or amazingly in medical school. Thousands of hours are spent in medical school on disease – otherwise known as pathology. But, there was and probably still is no course on Health or Healing.

Richard Dreyfuss

Ignorance is paradoxically rampant in our educational system. Money and Health matters are largely ignored along with other important parts of life. The actor Richard Dreyfuss is trying to get Civics taught again in school. Religion has long been ignored in public schools because of the separation of church and state – but it is a major part of human life and history. Marriage and Family as well as Human Relationships seem to be obvious subjects which beg to be addressed in schools from early years. The reader may have his/her own subject worthy of study somewhere along the way in the school system.

From another angle, this writer has to remark that the further along in his educational journey the worse the instruction was that he experienced. Teaching seems far beyond the correct word. Higher education then was higher up the ladder but poorer in practice. Of course, medical doctors practice medicine.

In medical school, professors were chosen not for teaching interests or abilities but for the research or dollars they brought to the institution. A common adage spread among medics goes something like this: “Real doctors do. Those who can’t do teach.”

Robert Kiyosaki mentions other obstacles to financial success, but fear and ignorance are fundamental in his mind as major causes of poverty or financial struggle. The same may be said of illness and disease.

As previously noted, the Wise Ones upon the planet never fall ill. Because they Know Thyself as well as their own spirits, minds and bodies. Furthermore, their knowledge – believe it or not – covers the intricacies of the planet and beyond. They live and see and know from the inside out – while we mortals largely live from the outside in – or merely on the outside.

They are also fearless. Their lives are examples of pure love and their beings radiate the pure energy of Love which is God. “Perfect love casteth out fear.”

So, fear and ignorance play major parts quite clearly in health and disease. Fear indicates the import of emotions in our lives. Relatively few of us have control over feelings which well up from time to time to disturb our bodily functions and cause us concern as well as illness.

Ignorance can be addressed, as Robert Kiyosaki does, in many ways. Education, in its truest sense, certainly can be helpful in lifting our eyes – to improve perceptions and broaden perspective. Fear is a more difficult issue to confront.

Our systems of financial and health education are from inadequate to almost non-existent. Until that changes, we will have to follow Kiyosaki’s lead in self directed study and learning.

A–S–K
Ask and it shall be given.
Seek and ye shall find.
Knock and the door will open.
Matthew 7:7

Even medics have known for long times that psychosomatic illness is the Real Deal. In the present era, large percentages of illness are admitted by orthodox physicians to be “stress induced.” That stress is generally thought as mental-emotional in nature. Still, it is much easier for a medical provider to sit with a patient for a few moments, hear that one’s complaints, and then write out a prescription to “try” on the problem. That trial is likely to be followed by further ones because pills do not address causes.

Stress and fear often go hand in hand. Much of stress is worry, another name for fear. A further issue to note is that stress and worry, fear and ignorance don’t just act episodically. They often lay smoldering in the unconscious, gathering force, and then breaking through from time to time in all sorts of ways including illness.

Just know that it’s fear that keeps most people working at a job.

Fear also starts and keeps people going to the doctor – even while they often understand that their medical visits rarely address their existential problems. People often go to doctors hoping to hand over their problems to professionals rather than to deal with them personally. Drugs are imagined to work quickly and painlessly almost magically even while the challenge of illness is welling up inside.

“But when you accept your disease as ‘a challenge and a gift,’
then the even greater miracle is the inner healing
that occurs because you have found your path again.”
Bernie Siegel

Cause and Effect

If you think I’m the problem, then you have to change me. If you realize that you’re the problem, then you can change yourself, learn something, and grow wise.

Yes, we look for answers outside, to authorities and experts, for deliverance with little work or investment, for magic bullets and purple pills. Kiyosaki knows all about investments and wants John Doe and Mary Smith to follow his lead to get out of the Rat Race and grow into Riches. People then have to take responsibility, put in effort, learn about options for bringing in income beyond punching a time clock.

The same is true regarding health and health issues. Sooner or later, we have to take charge and make changes ourselves. It is our bodies, beings, and lives about which we are talking. We know more about our stories and experiences, bodies and challenges than physicians ever can. How much can a medical provider learn about us in a few minutes of history and an exam which is usually cursory, if that?

Doctors deal with symptoms and signs which are effects and not causes. We stand in the middle as well as the beginning of the causes of our own ill health and injury. We create the milieu in which the “seeds of dis-ease” take root and grow into outer expression. It is for us – sooner or later – to recognize the patterns of our lives, the symbols not just symptoms, the inner causes rather than the obvious outer effects which develop in and around us.

Just like a board game, the world is always providing us with instant feedback.
Most people never see the trap they are in.

The obstacles we encounter and the ills which “befall” us do not appear to confound us. But to teach us and grow us. We must learn to see problems as challenges AND opportunities. There are no accidents in our lives. Most assuredly where illnesses and so-called diseases are concerned. We may suffer injuries without obvious causes. But even then, we should call them mishaps, not accidents.

So-called accidents do not happen randomly as “Nobody’s fault, certainly not mine.” But, hang on to your seat, nothing happens by mere chance in the world, and likewise not in our lives. We attract or simply bring forth from within our very own beings the events and circumstances necessary to further our growth and knowledge.

“We are put on Earth for a little space
to learn to bear the beams of love.”
William Blake

Whether we know it or not – consciously or unconsciously, we create the ill as well as the good which manifests in and around us. So, we must eventually take responsibility rather than try to pass it off to others or the world. Cause and Effect rules all of life including our own.

All is Cause and Effect. Buildings are constructed with blueprints. So too are human beings and their bodies. But, deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is not the true blueprint of your form and my own. Genetics endeavors to explain all that goes on physically – structurally – materially; but it is incapable of doing so. Genes are only part of the picture, as noted by serious students of the subject.

“All the genes in the genome taken together in any combination
will not evoke the human being, or any other organism.”
Craig Holdrege, The Question of Genes

We all have Spiritual DNA, so to speak, which exists in the world of soul-mind. Physical DNA has much to do with how bodies develop, but it is subject to much subtler forces which explain the working of mind and not just brain functions. Spiritual heredity allows for carrying ideas and talents, gifts and challenges, loves and antipathies from here to there – lifetime to lifetime.

It may be of interest to mention that mental ability is a much more subtle commodity than that which the neurons of the human brain are capable of producing. Again, all is Cause and Effect. If we open to the wonders of spiritual genetics, soul influences, mind-body relationships, we can go below the surface and find valuable information toward understanding the ills and problems in our lives. We can also broaden our awareness of the far reaches of consciousness – personal and collective.

Physical DNA offers no means to explain people like Mozart or Picasso who were producing their arts in their very early years. As it now stands, geniuses like those two were merely “freaks of Nature” or “acts of God.” But again, the Universe works according to Laws which should give us comfort in difficult times as well as courage to meet them.

Cause and Effect helps to explain all sorts of mysteries and secrets “hidden for the ages.” From geniuses and prodigies to morons and the autistic and to our own talents and flaws.
